In putting together Supercomputing `94, we are attempting to meld the experience of the high performance computing and communications community with the challenges posed by the emerging national information infrastructure. We have chosen to emphasize applications in biology and medicine, design and manufacturing, and the environment. Given its crucial role in the successful application of our technologies to problems of economic and social importance, education -- across the whole spectrum from K-12 through graduate school -- will also play a prominent role in the Conference.
As usual, we've built lots of opportunities for informal discussion into the Conference schedule. Prominent among these opportunities will be an Opening Reception and Exhibits Preview on the Supercomputing '94 exhibit floor on Monday evening, the 14th. As a special treat, we have reserved the National Air and Space Museum for a Conference Celebration on the evening of Thursday, the 17th of November.
We hope that you will be able to join us and the rest of your colleagues at the Washington Convention Center for a week of discussions, presentations, exhibits, and fun.
SC `94 Sponsors and Volunteers Since 1988, volunteers from academia, government and industry have been working together to advance the science and application of computing and communications technologies by bringing you the Supercomputing conference series.
Supercomputing `94 is sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committees on Supercomputing Applications and Computer Architecture and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Special Interest Group on Computer Architecture (SIGARCH).
